We're adopting! 2019 brought some unexpected changes for our family with me leaving the workforce and now being home with our kids. As we reflec...
We started our adoption journey in December of 2019 so I think it's time for an update! I can't believe it's been 2 years. We are waiting for a referral from Colombia which may come in a month or in a couple years. This whole process is so unpredictable. As we wait for a referral we continue to watch the Waiting Children lists and have reached out to inquire about a few more children but no mat...

We are overdue for an update but I've been having a hard time getting myself to write it. Our excitement over bringing little Emilia into our family came to an abrupt end when we learned that despite being on the waiting child list for over a year with no interested families, another family within Colombia submitted their paperwork for her just days before we had. While we were disappointed, it...
What a week!!Aaron and I have reviewed the files for a little girl and have chosen to move forward towards adopting her! I have sporadically looked at the waiting children lists over the past year. Typically kids on this list are there because their home country has been unsuccessful with placing them with a family. One little face in particular has been pulling at my heart for a year now. Typi...
I was at the UPS store again printing documents and shipping them. Just when we thought we were done, we learn about a new step. We have now had our fingerprints done three times - each for different purposes - go figure! We are waiting for the approval of our I-800a from US customs & immigration services (we got our fingerprints done for this almost a month ago) and now we are also waiting...
YAY! We are so excited - today we put our I-800A application in the mail. We have been compiling the necessary documentation for our immigration paperwork for months and months so this is a huge deal. Woohoo! I don't get to carry this child the way I did Daphne, Clark, & Neil. I won't have those ultrasound appointments or an app on my phone telling me what's new in their development eac...
Hello again! What a productive month September has been. We were able to complete our home study & our psychological evaluations within a couple weeks of our last update! We will have our first wave of documents completed on time! Our agency has been amazing in fast-tracking this for us. We really appreciate all the prayer support - it is amazing to have gotten so much done so quickly this ...
Wow - how is it been 4 months since the last update?! Our education that was scheduled for May in-person was cancelled and moved to a virtual format which unfortunately wasn't ready for us to begin until mid-July. We completed the education at record speed & with great enthusiasm as we were so relieved to be moving forward albeit slowly. The delay of a couple months isn't something we can't...
We are making great headway into the first required set of classes! We're learning so much about child development, trauma's effects on the brain & relationships, and strategies to help our child heal when they are in our home. We've started placing orders for copies of birth certificates, marriage license, etc and have submitted the last of our home study documents. The next step is the do...
Thanks to everyone who has donated so far! We have paid our first substantial fee to get our homestudy underway. Initial paperwork has been filled out & we have scheduled 3 full-day classes that are required for the program. We got a giant packet of forms to sign, a book to read about Colombian culture, took two online courses in child safety, & have been tasked with getting physicals d...
