Our adoption just got updated to Paperwork Complete

We started our adoption journey in December of 2019 so I think it's time for an update! I can't believe it's been 2 years. We are waiting for a referral from Colombia which may come in a month or in a couple years. This whole process is so unpredictable. As we wait for a referral we continue to watch the Waiting Children lists and have reached out to inquire about a few more children but no matches yet. Our homestudy is being updated since it expires every year.
We are approved for 1-2 children ages 0-4 years old with mild to moderate special needs.
We've decided to add autism to our homestudy so we can potentially be matched with a child that has an autism diagnosis now. There are a lot of slow-downs on the US government side so we are praying the background checks that are part of the homestudy update are able to go through in the next couple weeks - we submitted the forms in October! After our homestudy update is written and received, we have to apply for an extension on our immigration paperwork. More fingerprinting & federal apostilles. We appreciate all the love & prayers our family has received over the last 2 years. God is fully present in the waiting and we have found surprising joy in the anticipation of His plan for our family eventually becoming known to us. Excited and ready for whatever 2022 will bring. Thanks everyone and Happy New Year!
