Valary Akinyi lives with her mother in a two-room house about an hour’s walk from school. Her father passed away six months before she was born. She sleeps on mattress spread on a mat under a mosquito net.

Valary Akinyi was born on August 11th, 2013. She has been living with two of her older siblings in a different town while her widowed mother does business in Mbita. Her father passed away in 2013 six months before she was born. The mother is a food vendor and is grateful for the opportunity to have her last-born daughter relocate to Mbita. They live in a two-room rental tin house about half an hour’s walk from school. They fetch and treat water from the lake for drinking and cooking and use the same for cleaning. Valary sleeps on a mattress spread on a mat under a mosquito net. She is weak academically but has a great potential to improve at CGA.
