Tamara Tasha Otieno was born on September 1st, 2013. She joined CGA Preprimary class in January 2019. She and her older sister were born out of wedlock. The mother left the country and went abroad to work leaving them in the custody of their grandfather who works in Nairobi. Tamara’s grand aunt decided to take both Tamara and her older sister into her home for care. The grand aunt is a widow and has her own children. She lives in Mbita and serves at CGA as an ECD teacher as well as the head of ECD department. They live in a four-bedroomed self-contained permanent house about a 15-minute walk to school. They have running water and electricity. The compound is well fenced and safe. Tamara is lucky to have such a home, and we trust she will do great at CGA. 2020 Update: This is Tamara’s second year at CGA. She is now in Grade one. She enjoys coming to CGA with both her older sister, Maya Keyshia, and her grand aunt, Daina, who is a long time serving ECD teacher at CGA. We have not been told whether her mother communicates or not, but she is temperamental. The guardian also confirmed that. Her teacher says that she struggles in following instructions and this affects her academic progress. 2023 Update: Tamara is currently in grade 4 and is an average student. She actively participates in music and drama activities, and also participates in scout activities as well.
