Pierre was born in a small town called Fonds Verrettes, located in the countryside of Croix-Des-Bouquets, Haiti. His father was a Pastor and his mother cared for her five children. With three older sisters and one younger brother, Pierre Henock and his family struggled to meet the basic necessities of everyday life. Contrary to the United States, being a vocational Pastor is not a sufficient way to support a large family. Thus, the living conditions he and his family faced were extremely impoverished. Sadly, in 2012 his father became sick and passed away, leaving his mother as the sole provider for their large family. With no job and no adequate source of income, his mother was left with little options.

Prior to his father’s death however, his parents had heard about Chanje Lakay from a friend and after his passing, his mother decided to send Pierre Henock and his younger brother, Marc Chanio, to Chanje Lakay. When he and his brother arrived at Chanje Lakay for the first time they brought nothing but the clothes on their backs. Both he and his brother were some of the first children to arrive at Chanje Lakay and we have seen much change in them. Today, Pierre Henock is happy and healthy. He loves to sing and often leads the younger children in worship songs. In addition, he loves to draw and learn. In fact, he is working on learning English!
