Patrick lives with his aunt in a two-roomed house about an hour walk from CGA. Patrick's mother is unable to care for him due to her health. The aunt and her husband also care for five children of their own.

Patrick Odhiambo was born on 13th January, 2016. He joined CGA grade one in January 2024. He is the first born in a family of two siblings. Patrick lives with his aunt in a two-roomed semi-permanent house in his aunt's compound about an hour's walk from CGA. Patrick's mother is epileptic hence she had to release Patrick to come to Mbita and stay with his aunt who would take care of him. The mother stays in her maternal home with Patrick's younger brother and the maternal grandmother takes care of both of them. Patrick's aunt runs a small shop by the roadside and her husband is an Early Child Education teacher. The income they get helps them support Patrick and the other five children of their own. The family depends on lake water for cooking and bathing and buys drinking water from a vendor in the neighborhood. Patrick sleeps on a mattress spread on the floor under a mosquito net. The family uses electricity or solar for lighting and firewood or charcoal for cooking. They have a toilet which they share with the other family members in the larger compound. Patrick did not do so well in his CGA entry exams. We hope that he will improve with time through the help of the teachers at CGA.
