Joela Jornel Prezel was born on 10th September 2019. She joined CGA pre-primary 1 in January 2024. She is the only girl and the last born in a family of four siblings. Joela lives with her widowed mother who is on daily medication and her older three brothers. Two of them, Jevace and Tevidon, also attend CGA. Through support from the relatives, the mother has built a two-bedroom tin house which relieves her from the burden of paying rent. The mother sells second-hand clothes to support Joela and her siblings. The home is situated about a 25-minute walk from CGA. Her father passed away in early 2019 shortly before Joela was born after he had been hired by the government as an area administrator. They use water from a tap in the compound for drinking and fetch water from the lake for home use. The family uses either solar or Paraffin for lighting and charcoal, firewood, or sometimes methane gas for cooking. Joela sleeps on a bed with a mattress under a mosquito net together with her mother. The mother is grateful to have her three kids at CGA. It is a great relief for her.
