Joel Okoth was born on March 14, 2010. He will join CGA Grade 1 Class in 2020. He was born out of wedlock and unfortunately two years later his mother passed on, leaving him under the care of his older cousin and wife. They live in a three-room permanent rental house about one hour walk from CGA. His cousin currently doesn't have a job; however the wife sells second-hand clothes to support the family. They use tap water for drinking and fetch water from the lake for home use. They have electricity for lighting and use charcoal for cooking. Joel sleeps on a mattress together with other children in the family under a mosquito net. According to the guardian, Joel is a very lively boy. We hope that Joel will do better as he joins CGA. 2023 Update: Joel is an obedient boy both at school and at home. His academic performance is average and he is currently in the fourth grade. His older cousin is now a casual laborer and supports his family together with his wife who still sells second-hand clothes in Mbita town.
