George Junior was born June 11th, 2012. He joined the CGA Nursery class in January 2017. His father died June 2012, just two weeks before he was born. His mother Irine Awuor is now the bread winner. She does all sorts of odd jobs to support George and his other four siblings. His two older sisters also come to CGA. They all live in a rental, one-room house that is made of iron sheets about 2 km away from school. They have no electricity or running water. They use paraffin for lighting and buy treated water for drinking and cooking. They do their washing and general cleaning with lake water. George is excited to join CGA and we hope he will do well. 2019 Update: This is George Junior's third year at CGA. George has grown from a small tinny boy who was always carried on his mom's back to a very strong responsible slender boy. He walks to school in the company of his older sister Renny in grade 6 and Frizer in grade 5, but he walks home on his own because he is released earlier and he is able to cross the main road by himself when going home. His mother struggles a lot to bring food on the table for them. She does laundry for people whereby she collects cloths, wash, dry and iron them and deliver them back for a cost. George junior is average in his class. His teacher says that he is active and loves playing football. 2022 Update: This is George's 6th year at CGA. He is 9 years old and is in Grade 4. George stammers while talking and this makes him a little bit shy and inactive at school. The teachers understand his weakness and are helping him improve in his self-esteem. His eldest sister recently joined Secondary school a little bit far away from their home. 2025 Update: George Junior is in grade seven. Although he currently struggles academically, with the guidance of his teachers and support from his parents, there is hope that he will continue to improve. With encouragement and determination, George has the potential to make steady progress in his studies and grow into a confident young learner.
