DEBORAH ADHIAMBO was born December 24th, 2010. She joined the Nursery class in January, 2016. She lives with her parents about 2 miles away from CGA. She is the 3rd child of five. Her father is an assistant pastor of a local church in the community. Her mother has a small business to help support the family since the father is not paid. The family lives in a two bedroom rental house that the church pays for. They have electricity but no running water. Deborah’s family uses lake water for cleaning and must treat it to make is safe for drinking. They use charcoal for cooking and sometimes firewood outside of the house. Deborah is a very tiny girl and we were concerned about how she would commute to school every day. Deborah’s parents said they are moving to their church compound to be closer to the school. The parents were so grateful for the opportunity given to their little girl to attend CGA. 2018 Update: Deborah joined cga when she was only 88 cm tall and 12.5 kg in weight, but in two and a half years she has grown to 109 cm tall and 18 kgs in weight. They moved to another rental house that is close to school and it takes her about 30 minutes to be in school. It is a two bedroomed house with electricity. Her father is now a pastor and they live not far from the church. He also does welding for income generating purpose. Her mother is selling grains in a trading center that is close to their house. Deborah is an average student in class. She is the most tiny pupil in grade one, but she is very strong. She is outgoing and loves to play. 2021 Update: Deborah has added more weight, and is currently 26kgs, and 146 cms tall. 2024 Update: Deborah performs well in her academics and also loves participating in soccer games at school. Her mother runs a vegetable stall on the roadside which helps support the family. She currently weighs 39kgs and is 159 cms tall.
