Dan Shesil was born on May 3, 2014. He will join CGA Nursery (PP1) class in January 2020. His father was a truck driver and a polygamist. His mother Oliver is the third out of four wives of his late father, and Dan is the fourth child among six siblings. The family lived in Mbita and after the death of his father they moved back to their rural home. After some time, life became unbearable for his mother to support them. She decided to relocate back to Mbita and find something that could generate some income for supporting her children. They all moved, leaving the eldest brother in the care of his step mother. In Mbita they all live in one rental room made of tin along with other families. It is about 40 minutes walk to CGA but very close to the shops and the lake. They have no furniture in the room. Dan shares a mattress on the floor with his mother and the two other siblings while the rest sleep on an old reed mat. They share two blankets to cover them. They have no running water or electricity. They do their washing by the lake that is across the main road and buy government water from nearby tap for drinking. They use firewood for cooking. His mother does laundry for people every day to support Dan and his siblings as they go to school. 2022 Update: This is Dan's third year at CGA, and he's currently eight years old. Dan is currently in Grade one, and according to his teacher, he is an average student. The mother also says that she has seen a lot of progress in Dan's academic work. Dan's family relocated in 2021, and currently stays close to the school - about ten minutes walk to school. He has a little sister born mid 2022. 2025 Update: Dan Shesil is currently in Grade Four. He weighs 30 kg and is 151.8 cm tall. Dan is an outspoken and confident student who enjoys participating in drama and music activities. He performs at an average level academically. At home, he lives with his mother, who occasionally receives support from the man who inherited her.
