Help Parents Feed Their Children
In Tanzania, 75% of families depend on agriculture to survive, but the land isn't producing enough. Plant With Purpose equips poor, rural families to plant vegetable gardens so parents can provide nutritious meals for children and earn income too.

Meet Hellen, Widow and Mother of Three
Hellen, a 45-year-old widow, struggled to
provide for her three children. Her garden wasn’t producing enough food, her
children weren’t getting sufficient nutrition, and she had no surplus to sell
for even a few dollars of income. The family garden training she received
through Plant With Purpose helped maximize her resources with no additional
costs. She began to use organic compost, learned how to organically control
pests, and diversified the vegetables in her garden. Soon, Hellen was growing
three times the normal amount of produce. She says, “Even though I am a widow,
with the trainings I got, I manage my family needs and pay for my children’s
school fees.”
Why Family Gardens Mean Food Security
About 98% of rural women in Tanzania who are
economically active depend on agriculture for survival, but the land isn’t
producing enough; in fact, 42% of children under 5 suffer from chronic
under-nutrition (Source: USAID). Plant With Purpose teaches families in rural
communities worldwide how to plant vegetable gardens that will maximize their
food production and diversify their diets. By helping families grow their own
vegetables, Plant With Purpose is equipping them to develop and maintain a
source of food and nutrition that can sustain them for a lifetime.
A Donation to Plant With Purpose Means a
Better Future
Through family gardens, poor women farmers
are increasing both family nutrition and household incomes. This means increased
health for children and the ability to cover the costs of children’s school fees, family medical needs, and
additional household necessities. You can give a family the opportunity for a
better tomorrow, today!
