WATER = LIFE
One in eight people in the world do not have access to safe, clean drinking water. That amounts to approximately 900 million people worldwide, with children the most affected. Waterborne illnesses caused by unclean drinking water claim the lives of 5,000 children every day. Most deaths are caused by preventable waterborne illness such as diarrhea.
Wells4Hope was created by
Amazon Outreach to meet this urgent need for clean water.
Our ministry sends volunteers including students, adults, and families on 10-day mission trips to Amazon villages. These volunteers administer desperately needed medical, dental and optical care while also providing the basic needs of food and clothing. We work with local churches in Brazil who have identified the areas in need and we partner with them as we minister to the villagers.
During our 15 years of ministry along the Amazon, we discovered a virtually limitless need for clean water wells. The expensive drilling process and supplies mean that the villagers cannot meet this need without help. $5,000 will drill a well for a village in desperate need.
Oftentimes, while drilling is in progress in one village, locals from nearby villages inform us of their need for a well.
Wells4Hope drills as many wells as possible while in their area, but has a critical need for resources — both time and money.
While you may not be able to be the hands drilling the well, you can have a hand in providing the funds needed to bring clean water to a child, a family, and a village.
