We are so excited to share what God has laid on our hearts and His plan for what our family will look like…He has called us to adopt internationally!

Years ago, we began to pray for the orphans and their need for God’s love, provision, safety and ultimately their salvation.  The Lord continued to increase the burden on our hearts to care for the orphan as it is written in James 1:27, “Pure and genuine religion in the sight of God the Father means caring for orphans and widows in their distress and refusing to let the world corrupt you.”  As we learn more of God’s heart for adoption, the Lord has also given us a heart for the nations and a strong desire to make His glory known among them.  We have found the most joy when we are serving in the mission field together.  God has allowed us to see His precious children the way He does.  We knew that God was leading us to international adoption and so the search for an agency and the continent from which our children would come from began!  After months of research and endless phone calls to different agencies, our gracious Father led us to Uganda!  Looking back on our lives, we can clearly see how the Lord was preparing us all along and confirming in both of us the desire to adopt.

As we continue our adoption journey in pursuit of two children from Uganda, we cling to the love and hope from our Redeemer and King through this trying and unknown time…but our sweet children are worth it and we are so excited!  We are overwhelmed with the love God has placed in our hearts for children we do not yet know but that He has already chosen for our family.  We love to share the Gospel through our adoption.  God chose us to be his adopted children - His son, Jesus adopts us into His family and we receive eternal inheritance.  It isn’t passed down through bloodlines but through the blood shed by Jesus.  He broke the bloodlines.  God is teaching our family trust and patience; we must depend on Him for everything and His timing is perfect, as HE places the lonely in families.  We hold on to the truth that Psalms 68:5-6a proclaims, “A Father to the fatherless, a defender of widows, is God in His holy dwelling.  God sets the lonely in families…”

We know that God is preparing our hearts and lives for our future family.  We are trusting God to equip us for what He is calling us for.  We know that, “God’s gifts and God’s call are under full warranty – never canceled, never rescinded.”  Romans 11:29.  We also know that it takes a village to raise a family.  Would you consider helping us bring our children home?
  

Most importantly, we ask for your prayers.  We count it a privilege to be covered in prayer by our friends and family.  Please pray for opportunities for us to share our journey that would bring God glory.  Pray for wisdom and discernment for all social workers, judges, lawyers, government officials, and doctors and that they would work in the best interest of the children.  Pray for our children and the other children in the orphanage – specifically for God’s provision in their development, well-being, protection and healing.  Pray that God would be revealing himself to our children and that He would be opening their eyes to Him right now.  Pray for what God has planned for us in Uganda – specific people He wants us to share the love of Jesus with and whose hearts He is preparing right now.

We also ask that you would consider helping us bring our children home by giving.  Now that our home study is completed and we received US government approval, we are in the process of raising money to cover the costs involved.  Everything that Megan makes at her job goes into our adoption fund as well as the proceeds from:

• T-Shirts – designed by Christian and Megan to support our adoption cost and advocate for orphan care

• Christmas ornaments – handmade in Uganda (half of the proceeds support orphans and half help bring our children home)

We have spent months applying for grants and have now started this fundraiser at Pure Charity.  All donations are tax deductible and when our goal is reached it will go directly to our adoption agency, About A Child.  We set a goal of $28,600 that will cover the adoption agency fees (which is a little more than half of our total adoption costs).  We know that this is a large amount and that is why every donation is so important to our family and the lives of our children.  You can also help by installing the Rewards Extension (click “rewards” above).  This will add a percentage of your online purchases from over 1,000 stores to our fundraiser with one click.  Also, we would appreciate your willingness to share this with others who may want to help as well.
