It is with joy and gratitude that I am joining the Sole Hope organization as their International Coordinator!
What is Sole Hope?
Sole Hope’s vision is to "offer hope, healthier lives and freedom from foot-related diseases through education, jobs and medical relief." Founded in 2010, Dru and Asher Collie set out to address the problem of jiggers in Eastern Uganda. Affecting thousands of Ugandans, if left untreated, jiggers become a huge problem, leading to infections, paralysis, amputation and even death. Sole Hope has established a medical clinic, provides shoes and educates Ugandans on how to prevent further infections. Sole Hope also desires to empower the local community, hiring over 30 Ugandans who serve as nurses, social workers, tailors, shoemakers, and teachers.
In my role I will assist the Executive Directors, Dru and Asher Collie in the daily operations of Sole Hope. This will include supervising our interns, managing the Ugandan staff, assisting with communication and coordinating with visiting teams.
I’m grateful to be joining an organization that is offering tangible hope to those who are in need. I will be moving to Jinja, Uganda in July and am excited to learn about this beautiful country.
Many of you have journeyed with me through seasons of loss, healing, and new beginnings. The joy and courage I have to accept this new role is certainly credited to the amazing community who has poured into me. So it’s with gratitude that I invite you to join me in this new venture.
