2023 Seed Fund | Phase 2 | Refugees | Fully Funded
Mercy House Global is located just outside Houston, Texas, a city of more than 70,000 refugees, one of the largest populations in the USA. MHG employs about ten women who have resettled in Houston. This group of artisans called Local Hope creates candles, spa products, and home decor for the MHG fair trade line.
In addition to job creation, MHG provides programs to support the local refugee community, including ESOL (English Speakers of Other Languages) and empowerment luncheons that offer fellowship and skills training.
Funds for this program has allowed for our staff to walk along side refugees who are assimilating to our community. For example, we provide field trip training on learning how to ride the metro system and 3 months of metro cards to travel to English classes hosted by a local church. The funds might cover mental health services for traumatized refugees, skills training, home visits, emergency funds, etc.
Your gift is tax deductible, and you will receive a giving receipt. All contributions designated for specific funds are used until those needs are met. We desire to be good stewards of your gift, and when we receive more contributions for a given fund than we can use, we apply those funds to meet similar pressing needs.
