Save A Heart Warrior Today

So many of you have prayed for us, supported us, and cheered us on through this HLHS journey with Benjamin. It has been a very difficult road, one that we wouldn't have been able to travel without your love. I am asking you today to show the same love and support you have shown us and Ben to a heart warrior in Iraq.

Children in Iraq have more congenital heart defects that any other country in the world, due in large part to the terrible things Saddam Hussein did to his people during his reign. 
Your chance at having a childhood shouldn't be determined by where you're born. But for thousands of children in Iraq who don't have access to the medical care they need to survive - that's their reality.

I have discovered an organization called Preemptive Love. Their mission is to save the lives of the children who desperately need open heart surgery to survive. They train surgeons in Iraq to preform these surgeries, as well. Families of Iraq come from hundreds of miles to receive care from them. Preemptive Love is also working to help women and children whose lives have been wrecked by ISIS.

When a staff member from Preemptive Love wrote me an email to thank me for a donation, I shared Ben's story and why the work they are doing touched my heart. The wrote back telling me they had shown Ben's picture around the office and they were all in love with him! They plan to have a staff wide prayer on September 3rd for him, the day of his next heart cath. I was in tears because of the kind gesture. 

My goal for this fundraiser is to raise $650, the cost of an open heart surgery for one Iraqi child. That amount is astonishing to me, considering it cost hundreds of thousands to have the same surgery in the US. My heart is so heavy for the work that is being accomplished by Preemptive Love.
