In collaboration with ADRA Philippines, Loma Linda University Students for International Mission Service (LLU SIMS) will bring together a multidisciplinary team of students and faculty to serve local communities in the Philippines, through healthcare education, health assessments, and community outreach.
Working alongside ADRA Philippines, local healthcare providers, community members, and schools, the team will support initiatives that promote preventive healthcare, strengthen health awareness, and advance whole-person care. Participants will have opportunities to share their knowledge, learn from local partners, and develop meaningful cross-cultural relationships while contributing to community-centered health and wellness programs.
Mission service activities may include:
Health Education Workshops: Provide educational sessions on preventive healthcare, healthy lifestyles, wellness, and other health topics relevant to local community needs.
Health Assessments: Assist with appropriate health screenings and assessments in collaboration with local healthcare professionals and within the scope of each participant’s training and authorization.
Community-Based Health Fairs: Partner with local healthcare providers to participate in health fairs that promote health awareness, preventive care, and access to health education resources.
Women’s and Children’s Education Programs: Support educational initiatives focused on women’s health, maternal and child wellness, family health, nutrition, and preventive care.
Primary and Secondary School Activities: Engage with students through age-appropriate health education, wellness activities, and interactive learning experiences that encourage healthy habits and positive lifestyle choices.
Community Outreach: Connect with local patients, families, and community members to promote health awareness and support initiatives that address community-identified needs.
Through this international mission service experience, LLU students and faculty will have the opportunity to serve alongside local partners, expand their understanding of global health, and apply their knowledge in a cross-cultural setting. Participants will gain valuable experience in interdisciplinary collaboration while learning about the cultural and community factors that influence health and well-being.
Guided by Loma Linda University’s commitment to service and whole-person care, this mission service trip emphasizes compassion, collaboration, and the promotion of physical, emotional, social, and spiritual wellness. Together with ADRA Philippines and local partners, the team will seek to strengthen community relationships, support health education, and contribute to the well-being of individuals and families.
