We are super excited that you are planning to travel with us to serve on the ADRA Connections (CNX) Trip to Reitoca, Honduras! This is going to be an amazing experience and we will greatly improve the lives of the community where we will be working. Within the Dry Corridor of Honduras, many farmers are struggling to survive with subsistence crops due to lack of water. We will spend the week installing gray water filtration and crop irrigation systems for 40 local farmers. Be prepared to dig in gardens, install pipes, plant crops, and assist in all sorts of farm/construction-related projects.
Key trip information:
Dates This trip will take place March 13 – 22, 2020 during your Spring Break. ADRA CNX will have staff waiting for your group on March 13 at the Tegucigalpa airport (TGU) and take you by bus to our first hotel, which is not too far away. This is where we will have orientation and understand the details of our project. If your group wants to fly in earlier, you are welcomed to do so; just let us know beforehand and make sure you're there to meet us at the airport on March 13.
Project Location & Living Conditions The project is in a rural community located in the heart of the Honduras mainland. We will be staying each night in a basic, local hotel in the community, so be ready to "rough it" with very basic showers, beds, and meals. We will have access to showers and bathrooms with running water, but we will provide clean water for drinking and brushing teeth, etc. Keep in mind that we will be working hard in a hot area, so come prepared for the weather. You can expect temperatures of High 95°F / Low 65°F. Bring a few warm clothes and a rain jacket just in case, but mostly pack hot weather clothes.
Group Size This is going to be a very exciting trip because we will have three groups all working together! Georgia Cumberland Academy is sending a group, Highland View Academy is sending a group, and Southern Adventist University is sending a group of Journalism majors to help capture the story of our project and the beneficiaries. We expect to have about 60 in total, including students and adult volunteers.

Contacts Your leaders will work directly with the CNX team to coordinate the group and travel details. Adam Wamack and Cassie Hales are the ADRA CNX trip leaders and will be your main points of contact for any specific questions you might have (students, parents, or anyone else are welcomed to ask questions). Once you register for the trip and start fundraising, you will receive the full Trip Guide with FAQs, packing list and more details about travel and the location where we’ll be staying, so keep an eye out for that. We hope to see you there,
