DEAR FRIENDS, WE ARE GOING TO HAITI TO SERVE WITH AN ORPHAN CARE MINISTRY!

The group we are partnering with is called "The Hands and Feet Project". We have been supporting an orphan for the past year who is among 100 orphans who are cared for in this ministry. The young lady we support is Stephania. We are so excited to get to meet her in person in Haiti! On this trip we will serve in whatever local projects that are needed, whether at the mission compound or in the local community -- we must be flexible as to what the current needs are at the time. Full disclosure: there will also be a a trip to the Haitian beaches. Why is this? Part of the vision of Hands and Feet is to build sustainable jobs for the Haitians ... not just one-week church groups dropping in and then leaving. They want Haiti to be known, in time, as an island vacation destination just like any other. This will have a major impact on the economy and in individuals' lives, allowing them to support themselves. They want us to see the beauty that Haiti has to offer so that we can share this with others. We feel that this is a vision of helping the whole person which the Gospel encompasses (spirit, soul, body). There will be daily discussions about poverty and how the Church can help to alleviate it, as well as joy in seeing how God is already at work in Haiti.
