Last
night in Guatemala City, a neighborhood fire – ignited from the burning embers
from another recent blaze in a plastics recycling facility - destroyed parts of
the Santa Clara Nursery. An entrance and a perimeter wall of the nursery have
been destroyed and there is smoke damage inside the building. Approximately 300
students, ranging from the age of infancy to 4 years old, attend the nursery
every day. Luckily, the fire occurred in the evening, with no students present
at the time.
Until the fire is put out and the wall is rebuilt, young children whose parents work in the city garbage dump have nowhere to go. Please help us to rebuild damaged portions of the Santa Clara Nursery and get our students back in school.
