Our Upcoming Trip
Dear Friends,
Our hearts have grown increasingly heavy for the millions of refugees from Syria. Over 4.7 million Syrians have fled their homeland, dispersing into neighboring countries and Europe where many are living on less than a dollar a day. Not only do they have so little, but they have also experienced great trauma. We have an incredible opportunity to serve the refugees in one of the neighboring countries in the Middle East.
While the refugee camps receive the most media coverage, over 75% of refugees actually live in apartments in cities because of the sponsorship of a native to their host country. However, their homes are usually very small and extremely neglected. Food coupons are so limited that families are not able to have adequate nutrition. Many families must live off of $140 or $280 a month- and rent can be anywhere from $70 - $245 a month. We will be visiting with people who live in these conditions.
If you would like to learn more about the current state of living as a refugee, check out
this article.
While our cost for this trip is $8,200, we would like to raise $10,000 so we can bring more humanitarian aid and bless more people.
Our cost breakdown:
- 43% is for airfare and ground transportation
- 20% is for lodging and meals
- 15% is for general operations costs (health insurance and international personnel costs)
- 12% is for humanitarian aid
- 5% is for translators
- 5% is for training materials and pre-trip training
Thank you for making a donation so that we may serve those whom have been laid so heavily on our hearts. Everyone deserves to feel valued, and we want to let the refugees we meet know that they have not been forgotten, that they are loved, and still have a great purpose.
Love,
The Nyes
