Seeds That Feed is bridging the gap between food waste, food insecurity and barriers to healthier eating by creating communities where anyone can access the foods that inspire them to lead healthier lives. We work with local farmers to ensure their extra produce goes out to those in Northwest Arkansas living in food insecurity who have trouble accessing it. We deliver to food pantries, community meals, and directly to food insecure neighborhoods and senior living facilities.
We are expanding our operations and have created the pHed Initiative (pronounced fed). pHed services will supply home-delivered fresh fruits and vegetables to those in our communities who may be home bound, experiencing chronic illness(es), while also dealing with food insecurity, mobility, and transportation issues. There's a growing population of seniors who want to continue to eat healthy but the path to accessing the food they need to improve their health has many road blocks. That's where pHed steps in!
We listened to the population we serve, took time to research and reflect, went through the ReFED Food Recovery Accelerator in 2019, and came out with a clearer vision on how we can turn this excess healthy food into accessible foods for more people in our communities. We will be piloting pHed this summer with 50 patients experiencing these types of barriers (25 Marshallese patients and 25 senior citizens over the age of 65).
We need your help to make the pHed pilot a success! Please consider donating to Seeds That Feed. We are ambitious, passionate, and ready to take it to the next level.
