In 2002, a group of Northwest Arkansas parents decided to pursue a different approach in educating their children. They had discovered a very successful and intriguing model being used in the State of Texas. This unparalleled educational format, which is now being utilized by more than ninety (90) schools nationwide, is based largely upon one over-arching objective — Building Leaders for Christ. Providence Academy (PCCA) strives to accomplish this vision by: a) increased parent involvement through innovative scheduling; b) Christ-honoring and college-prep instruction and programming; and c) the promotion of independent learning and reasoning skills.
PCCA's programs are built on the following distinctions:
PCCA was birthed from this shared vision in 2004 with thirty-nine students. Countless hours of prayer, research, and implementation have taken place to provide the opportunity for greater parental involvement and for college-ready graduates to families in Northwest Arkansas and Southern Missouri.
The University-Model approach means that students attend school for core subjects on two days per week at the Lower School and three days per week at the Upper School. The alternate (satellite) days are spent fulfilling assignments provided by the teacher. Extra-curricular activities, clubs, and labs also often meet on the satellite days. This model uniquely prepares students for the college setting.
We are an accredited Christian, University-Model School®. PCCA is fully accredited through AdvancED via the North Central Association Commission on School Improvement (NCA CASI) and through Christian Schools International (CSI). PCCA is also a certified member of University-Model Schools International® (UMSI), which was formerly known as the National Association of University-Model Schools® (NAUMS).
The average composite ACT score for PCCA graduates hovers around 27, and the top 25% of the last graduating class had an average of 32.
