We have BIG news!
We are adopting a child!
But why? After many years of caring for orphans in Uganda, I thought maybe that was enough. We had been praying about adoption for a while and Ryan was ready, but I wasn't, yet! Until we moved to North Carolina and the Lord just kept speaking to me and softening my heart to adoption. I decided to stop running from the call that the Lord placed on my heart and to surrender it all to Him. So here we are, adopting!
Originally we wanted to do domestic adoption, get a new baby and lessen the burden for a mother of an unwanted pregnancy. So Ryan and I attended our first information meeting with the organization, Christian Adoption Services. We listened to the domestic adoption policies and procedures and were impressed on how these mothers have a plethora of families willing to adopt their babies. Then came international adoption. First thing that was said was James 1:27- and we knew this was it. Did you know that in the Philippines once a child is age 7 they are deemed unadoptable? That broke us. As parents of a 7 year old we couldn't let that fact just sit. We have to do something.
So here we are, on the long, beautiful road to bringing our child or children home. We need prayers first and foremost, and funds secondly.
It may surprise you to hear that adoption related costs can easily total up to $35,000 or more. This is why we have set a goal to help ease the financial burden that often overwhelms adoptive parents.
We hope that by inviting you into this process, you will see yourself as part of the community we hope to build around our child as he/she grows up.
