I recently applied for the ADRA Connections (CNX) Warmth and Education Trip to Cusco, Peru, and got accepted. As a participant in this missionary trip, I am opening a fundraiser sponsored by Pure Charity. This missionary trip will be a fantastic experience, and we will significantly improve the lives of the children and families in the mountain communities of Peru.

I am a junior at Appalachian State University, majoring in Management, and I live in the mountains of North Carolina. I was born and raised as a Seventh-day Adventist, and as a member of this church, I have a deep connection to the organization's mission of proclaiming the everlasting gospel embraced by the Three Angels' Messages. I have a passion for helping others, especially those in need, and as a church member, I must use my skills to help others while the Lord grows my faith. I grew up in Colombia, South America, but I had the opportunity to travel to some countries in Europe and South America. Those experiences have been invaluable for my personal growth and are an unforgettable part of my life. I love to travel and make friends around the world as there is so much to learn and appreciate from other cultures. But there is nothing I love more than seizing the opportunity to bring others to Christ.

Meaningful education is often impossible for students living in the Andes' high-altitude mountain communities near Cusco, Peru. Both cold weather and underdeveloped homes make even attending school a significant challenge. On this trip, our group will work with ADRA Peru on the Warm Homes project to improve several family homes so that the children can thrive and will also work directly with the teachers and students in two of the local elementary schools. We will install solar panels, build smokeless stoves, and insulate the interior of homes. We will teach English classes, exchange ideas with teachers, and meet with families to better understand their needs. We will leave a lasting impact that will transform the next generation's lives, and ADRA Peru will support these communities when we leave.
