Kairos Village provides counseling, comfort, love, and restoration to children rescued from abusive and sexually exploitative situations. The children living at Kairos Village are able to receive quality education, nutritious meals, and access to healthcare and counseling. They are surrounded by a comforting family environment, with a house mother and 3-4 other children in a safe and secure home.
There are no roads that lead to Iquitos, Peru; the city of nearly 600,000 is only accessible by plane or boat. The landscape has stunning natural beauty, the culture is a wonderful mix of old- and new-world, and the people are warm, friendly, and resourceful. Unfortunately, the isolation of Iquitos is a breeding ground for poverty, low education, alcoholism, and poor physical and mental health. In Belen, a township of Iquitos, homes are built on stilts or to float above the river. Overcrowding is the norm; often, multiple families will live in a simple, small one-room space. As many parents are forced to work long hours to make ends meet, they must leave their small children at home. This leads to abuse, sexual exploitation, forced prostitution, and disease.
Through your enthusiastic support, Help One Now and Kairos Ministries are able to open the doors of Kairos Village to 25 children this year! We have partnered with Kairos Ministries and local leader Mercades Malpartida to fulfill her dream of providing restoration to children in her community who are survivors of trafficking, abuse, and exploitation. These children now live in a secure environment where they are receiving love and hope, but this is only the beginning.
It is time to begin Phase 2 in the construction of Kairos Village: four additional homes will be constructed and furnished—each able to house 4-5 rescued children and 1 house mother. A community center, a community garden, and one guest house will be added to the Village as well. A portion of the funds will be delegated toward needed renovations and expansions at Colegio Kairos and the community preschool, and a seed fund will be started for education and empowerment. The school renovations will improve the quality of education for the children of the whole community, including those living at Kairos Village! The seed fund will empower the children living at Kairos Village to receive higher education or technical training as they grow and transition out of the Village, so they will have the opportunity to flourish and become self-sustaining adults. Altogether, these improvements and expansions will impact over 1,000 people every year!
We need your support to rescue even more children, and partner with them as they receive restoration, grow to thrive, and see transformation in their community that will last for years to come. Doing good is simple: Partner with us today to make this impact.
