I
am going on another adventure this summer! This time it is to Peru in
July, just a couple months from now. The last time I went on a short
term adventure was in 2012 to Masaka, Uganda, where I shared the good
news of Jesus Christ, ministered to children, witnessed life
transformations, and made life-long friends. These past five years,
I have been participating in outreach events in downtown San Diego
serving the homeless with food, listening to their stories, praying
with them, introducing them to Jesus, and seeing some folks find
homes and start giving back.
Many
of my friends from the Rock Church Impact 195 Discipleship school
were commissioned in teams to the Caribbean, India, Africa, Europe,
the South Pacific, but nobody was going to South America; so when my
friend told me about this trip to Peru this summer, I instantly felt
like I needed to go!
Our
team will be traveling by plane, boat, and foot to share the love of
Christ with the people of Caballococha, Peru, which is located close
to Columbia and Brazil, right on the Amazon River. The trip could
include a ten-hour boat ride, sleeping in tents or hammocks, and
hiking to reach jungle tribes who may have never seen anyone from the
USA. We will be bringing them vitamins, water filtration systems,
eyeglasses, and malaria prevention programs. We will have
translators with us the entire time, and trip will take a total of
nine days. Those open to the gospel, we will train to make disciples
and spread the gospel on their own. Growing closer to Jesus has
changed my life and I want to share with others so they will
experience the same transformation.
