THE BASICS:
Location: Riverside Farm Institute, Zambia
Dates: June 8 or 9 arrive in Lusaka, June 21 depart from Lusaka
Cost:
-The cost for the trip includes airport pick-up, drop-off, food, lodging,
transportation, short-term travel insurance, project expenses, and an excursion to Victoria Falls and a one-day safari.
-Costs differ by lodging category. We have rooms at the dormitory and rooms at
the Wellness Center/Lodge.
-You are responsible for making your own flight arrangements.
THE GOALS:
1. Learn more about the powerful ministry and mission of
Riverside Farm. Encourage their team working through the
challenges of changing lives on the frontlines. Support their
long-term vision for "equipping men and women to make an impact for good
in their communities."
2. Provide a spiritual rejuvenating Week of Prayer program.
3. Meet dental needs through mobile clinics at Riverside, surrounding
communities, and several days at Anchor SDA Orphanage and School a few hours from Riverside.
4. Help finish the construction of the girls' dormitory.
5. Find unique ways to serve and fellowship in a way that only God has designed you to :)
THE PROCESS:
1. Complete your application, with your paid deposit ($200 for adults and no deposit required for children).
2. Upon completion, you have the opportunity to create a personal crowdfunding page for each participant so you can raise
funds for your trip expenses (not your flight). There are payment milestones built into the trip: March 8, 30% of your trip cost is due and May 8, 100% is due. If you have not fundraised up to that amount by the milestone, the card you used to pay your initial deposit may be charged that difference.
3. Melissa is the Child Impact staff coordinating the logistics of the trip. She is happy to help provide some insight/resources for your travel arrangements. We encourage you to send your itinerary to Melissa prior to purchasing so she can provide helpful feedback. You can forward the itinerary to mmoore@childimpact.org. Please arrive to the Lusaka airport by noon on Thursday June 8 by noon Friday, June 9. Please be understanding that we will make our best effort to minimize your wait time after you arrive, but in order to save funds, we hope to only make one trip to the airport each day. We are only providing transportation from the Lusaka airport.
4. Complete all forms on Pure Charity. These forms will help us get to know you, your skills, missions experience, medical information, etc.
5. Purchase the book Helping Without Hurting
in Short-Term Missions. You'll go through the first five units on your own,
we will go through units 6 and 7 together on the trip (so bring your book), and
unit 8 will be completed when you return home. Around the country, this book
has become a staple resource for shaping a shared goal for short-term missions.
Many have shared that this book has had a profound impact on daily life upon
returning from a mission trip. Videos were created to accompany the book, which
can be found here on the Chalmer's
Center website.
6. If you don't have it already, please download WhatsApp so we can communicate crucial announcements to everyone here.
