The Project

This fundraiser will build a larger, more suitable dormitory for students at His Mercy School. Currently, 17 students are sharing one large room, so there is very little space for privacy or for quiet study.  The new building will have space for 60 girls, which will allow both orphaned children in the Help One Now sponsorship program as well as students whose homes have been determined to be unsuitable for them to have a safe, secure place in which to live. Furthermore, boarding schools are very common in Uganda, so the students that are able will also pay a small fee, which will help generate revenue and offset the cost of the other students.

The dormitory will have rooms for the girls, as well as space for house mothers to help provide a stable, loving environment. There will be rainwater tanks to support washing sinks in each room. The building will also have limited electricity available provided by solar panels, so the children will be able to study at night. This dormitory will triple His Mercy School’s ability to provide a safe, stable learning environment for needy students
