In collaboration with God's Helping Hands Ministries (volunteeringuatemala.org) and local volunteers, Loma Linda University Students for International Mission Service (LLU SIMS) will bring together a multidisciplinary team to serve local communities in Guatemala through health education, health assessments, and community outreach.
Working alongside local partners and healthcare providers, the team will support initiatives that promote preventive healthcare, strengthen community wellness, and advance whole-person care. This experience will provide students and faculty with opportunities to share their knowledge, learn from local communities, build cross-cultural relationships, and contribute to meaningful service initiatives that address community-identified needs.
Mission service activities may include:
Health Education Workshops: Provide educational sessions on preventive healthcare, wellness, healthy lifestyle practices, and other relevant community health topics.
Community-Based Health Fairs: Collaborate with local healthcare providers and volunteers to promote health awareness, provide appropriate health assessments, and share health education resources.
Family Seminars: Support educational programs designed to strengthen family health, wellness, and overall well-being.
Medical Clinics: Assist with community medical clinics in collaboration with local healthcare professionals, providing services and support appropriate to each participant’s training and authorization.
Community Service: Participate in service projects that support local community priorities, strengthen partnerships, and promote the well-being of individuals and families.
Through this international mission service experience, LLU students and faculty will have the opportunity to serve alongside local partners, gain valuable cross-cultural experience, and apply their knowledge in a global health setting. Guided by Loma Linda University’s commitment to service and whole-person care, the team will seek to foster meaningful relationships and promote the physical, emotional, social, and spiritual well-being of the communities served.
This experience reflects the shared commitment of LLU SIMS, God's Helping Hands Ministries, and local volunteers to compassionate service, collaborative learning, and advancing health and wholeness in Guatemala.
