The Syrian refugee crisis has been a situation that has broken my heart over the last few years. Syria's prolonged and increasingly violent civil war has been raging for six years. The fighting has killed a reported 470,000 people and driven 11.1 million people from their homes (that is almost as many as the entire Los Angeles metropolitan area). It feels so big, and I thought: What can I possibly do to help those whose lives have been dismantled? How can one person do? Where do I start? How can I let them know that God hasn't forgotten about them?
In July 2018, I will travel with a team to Germany to work with Syrian refugees who have settled there. This trip presents an opportunity to step out and try to help those who have lost so much and are struggling to make a new life in a strange land. We will partner with a local ministry that will take us to areas where the German government has relocated refugees. We will be performing a variety of activities that will help those we meet in practical, meaningful ways, such as serving meals and completing various service projects. We will also be trained to address the spiritual needs of the people we meet, talking to people about faith in Jesus Christ, praying for specific requests, and preparing the way for local ministries to return to serve the same communities later.
Each team member has been asked to raise support to cover the travel and living expenses incurred during the mission.
Won't you please consider partnering with me as I take this step? In addition to your prayer support, I need to raise $2550 to cover the cost of the trip and to contribute to the work being done with refugees in Germany.
Whether or not you are able to make a financial gift, please pray for me as I prepare for the trip and as I travel from July 20-29, 2018. Your prayers will help make this trip successful for me and for our entire team. Thank you for your support!
