About this Fundraiser

Promoting Health, Education, and Wholeness
In partnership with La Loma Luz Adventist Hospital in Belize, Loma Linda University Students for International Mission Service (LLU SIMS) will bring together a multidisciplinary team to collaborate with local healthcare professionals in promoting community health, wellness, and whole-person care.
The team will work alongside the hospital’s staff to provide health education and appropriate health assessments for local patients and families. Through collaborative service and community engagement, participants will support local healthcare initiatives, strengthen cross-cultural partnerships, and contribute to the advancement of healthcare knowledge and capacities within the communities served.
Mission service activities may include:
  • Community-Based Health Fairs: Collaborate with local healthcare providers to organize and participate in health fairs serving both children and adults.
  • Health Education: Provide culturally appropriate education focused on preventive care, healthy lifestyles, wellness, and community-identified health needs.
  • Health Assessments: Assist with appropriate health screenings and assessments in collaboration with La Loma Luz Adventist Hospital staff and within the scope of each participant’s professional training and authorization.
  • Family and Community Outreach: Engage with local patients, families, and community members to promote health awareness and encourage healthy practices.
  • Interdisciplinary Collaboration: Work alongside local healthcare professionals to exchange knowledge, strengthen partnerships, and support the development of local healthcare capacities.
Through this international mission service experience, LLU students and faculty will have the opportunity to serve alongside local healthcare professionals, learn from the Belizean healthcare community, and apply their knowledge in a cross-cultural setting. Guided by Loma Linda University’s commitment to whole-person care, the team will seek to promote physical, emotional, social, and spiritual well-being while fostering meaningful partnerships that support the continued advancement of community health.
