India was originally an agricultural economy but has grown more diverse in recent years. The country boasts a space industry, growing I.T. sector, and nuclear power.
India was the landing point for William Carey, the father of the modern missions movement. Christianity’s contributions to Indian society have been widely felt in the centuries that have followed. Despite localized persecution, Christians are actively providing education and healthcare throughout the country and spreading the Gospel along the way. However, progress is still slow-moving. Even today, the vast majority of India remains completely unreached.
