On Jan. 9 - Jan. 12, 2014, I'm taking on the Disney Dopey Challenge, which involves completing a 5K, 10K, 1/2 marathon and full marathon over four consecutive days. I've decided to celebrate this moment and help those who are less fortunate.
I started this fundraiser on Pure Charity to raise $1,000. Every penny of this goes to Compassion International which is a Christian child advocacy ministry that releases children from spiritual, economic, social and physical poverty and enables them to become responsible, fulfilled Christian adults.
Founded by the Rev. Everett Swanson in 1952, Compassion began providing Korean War orphans with food, shelter, education and health care, as well as Christian training. Today, Compassion helps more than 1.2 million children in 26 countries.
I got involved with Compassion back in 2006 when I started sponsoring Scola, a child who lives in Tanzania. I love receiving her letters and drawings as well as doing a small part to make a difference in the life of a child in need.
I'm asking everyone I know to donate any amount they feel moved to give. Would you please join with me and help raise $1,000 to support children in need worldwide?
My goal is to raise $1,000.
Thank you so much for being a part of my life and helping me accomplish something that's very, very important to me.
