I have something I would like to share with you...

In time, I have come to realize more and more that I was chosen for a specific purpose. One that is greater than my own abilities and beyond my own understanding. You were chosen by me because of your impact in my life, and for that, I thank you and invite YOU into this new chapter of my story.

From the time I was young, I knew I had a passion and desire to serve those in need. As time passed, and many people like yourself touched my life, that passion grew deeper. Although medicine has always been a part of my calling in an effort to physically treat people, more recently, by the grace of God, I have realized my calling is to not only care for people physically, but also mentally and spiritually as well.

Though God has been crafting this plan from the beginning, it was over this past year, through connections and people offering their love and support (support that spanned multiple continents and countries), that a truly remarkable opportunity was presented to me - to travel to Peru this summer, to share God's love, with e3 Partners. Before traveling there, and to fulfill my Masters of Public Health requirements, I will be developing a method for better determining the health needs of communities in order to provide more specific care. Also making this opportunity even more incredible, my parents have agreed to join me on my trek to Peru! (Now I won’t have to worry about a translator! One day I’ll get that Spanish down.) During our time, we will be visiting various villages and setting up medical clinics in an effort to meet their needs medically, while also providing a chance for prayer and teaching to meet their spiritual needs. This exciting opportunity will truly test my medical schooling and allow me to work alongside my dad in caring for patients!

As with all things in life, nothing ever comes easy, and certainly nothing comes free; except God’s love and grace. As I am still in my 2nd year of my MD/MPH program, and we aren't paid no matter how hard we work, I do not have the personal funds for this trip. It was put on my heart with such clarity that I am supposed to go to Peru, and with this same clarity, that I am supposed to reach out to YOU. I know that God provides and does so in various ways. So I am asking for your help to make this opportunity a reality by helping me via prayers, encouragement, and if possible, financial assistance.

My portion of the trip costs $2,875 (of the group's $7,950). It covers all housing, transportation, and supplies, and needs to be raised ASAP (as the trip is this July). If you feel this is something you are able to assist me with, it is as simple as clicking the “DONATE” button below.

A Cultural Epicenter

With over 1.2 million residents, Arequipa is Peru’s second largest city. It is also Peru’s second most industrialized and commercialized city. Arequipa hosts a variety of universities and is home to many important political, intellectual, and religious figures throughout history.

Arequipa was originally established in August 1540. In that time, it has been the site of 14 different political revolutions that have dramatically impacted Peru’s cultural landscape. Today, it serves as the seat for Peru’s Constitutional Court and the city’s rich heritage makes it a major tourist attraction.

What We’re Doing

By every measure, Arequipa is a critical city. If you reach Arequipa, you can reach Peru. Its societal importance cannot be overstated.

On this expedition, we will host a series of eye care clinics in the city where residents can receive free exams and eyeglasses. As we serve the people, it will provide new opportunities to share the Gospel with them.

Meanwhile, we will follow up with new churches that were recently established in the city. You will have the opportunity to meet new believers who are taking their first steps as followers of Christ. We will partner with them to establish second generation churches in the community and invite new people into a relationship with Jesus.

God is doing incredible things in Arequipa. The story has just begun and you can be a part of it. In just one week, you can spread the Gospel, encourage new believers, and establish new churches in an otherwise unreached community.
