I am excited to share with you about the opportunity Milton and I have to work once again with foster children this summer through Royal Family Kids as well as asking for your help. RFK is an amazing Christian organization that partners with the state to provide opportunities for children in the foster care system.
I just learned that at any given time, there are about 2,100 children in out-of-home care. All
children placed in foster care have experienced neglect, abuse, and/or abandonment. The pandemic has shined an even larger spotlight on the needs of foster children in our community. Our home church, Park Hill Church, is raising funds to support Royal Family Kids Camp for the foster children in San Diego County. Our fundraising will allow us to raise funds to offer a week-long camp where foster kids can just be kids and give foster parents a week to take care of themselves.
Last year, Milton and I both worked as the camp Grandparents. This was such a special experience where we met with each child in pairs at “Gram & Pop’s Corner”! We spent time together developing relationship by building wooden cars, painting canvases, playing games, eating snacks, learning a little bit about their stories if they wanted to talk about them, throwing Frisbees, etc. Milt had so much fun coordinating a massive boy’s outdoor water balloon bash event & I coordinated an all-girls tea party! We had the pleasure of eating meals together, worshiping the Lord through songs and Bible stories, and playing lots of games with all these sweet children. We also loved being able to help our volunteer camp counselors find a few moments for refreshment and return back to a place where they could pour themselves out again to their campers.
Milton and I truly believe in this organization and stand firm with our church in reaching out
through this camp experience. We are so excited that we have been invited back to honor these children and step in as the camp grandparents again. Will you join me in donating support to help cover the cost of girls tea party, “Gram and Pop’s Corner”, the boys water balloon bash as well as the overarching $50,000 it costs to host this camp for 40 children.
Your contribution WILL dramatically impact the health and well-being of one of San Diego’s most fragile and vulnerable populations. YOU can help us make a difference in the lives of children! MOST IMPORTANTLY, please pray! This is a VERY intensive week of working with kids who may have deep wounds and it is not our job to pry or fix but rather it is our belief to exemplify the heart of Jesus as He restores them with His truth!
Thank you so much!
Love,
Chavonne
