THE CALL

For several years I have felt God preparing me for mission trips. Each time I received a letter from a friend going on a trip I felt a tugging on my heart. I knew God was telling me that one day I would be called to go. I have to admit, I thought my time wouldn’t come until my boys were much older.  

Last spring I had the privilege of hearing one of our team leaders speak about her recent trip to Ethiopia. God very clearly told me that I would go there someday. Again, I thought someday meant many years down the road.

A few months ago when I heard about the April trip to Ethiopia I fell a strong tugging on my heart. I spent a good deal of time in prayer, and I knew that God was calling not only me to be a part of the team but Jax as well. When I asked Jax if he wanted to go with me in April he immediately said yes. After talking about some of the details I asked him why he thought it was so important that we go on this trip. He responded, “Because telling people about Jesus is the most important thing we can do.”

WHAT WE WILL BE DOING

We will be using the Evangecube to tell people the gospel of Jesus Christ.  You can read about the Evangecube here.

We will be offering Rhode Island Red Hens to each household we visit. Their superior egg-laying capacity offers sustainability to the poverty stricken families.

It is common for families to send their children away thinking they will earn an income to send home. We will be using the PricelessCube to educate the families we visit about the reality of what happens to their children when they are taken away and to help put an end to sex slavery. HOW YOU CAN HELP

We are hoping you will prayerfully consider being a part of our support team. The two main areas we need support are as follows:

1.    For both Jax and I to participate in this trip we need to raise $6,830. That will cover all expenses including travel, lodging, meals, the cost of the chickens, and all the necessary supplies for our mission.

2.   We are hoping you will join us in prayer. We need prayer in many areas including but not limited to planning and preparation, health, safe travels, and reaching our financial goal.

We are eagerly anticipating this trip. We have spent many afternoons looking at pictures of Amhara online and talking about how blessed we are. One evening Jax came to me and asked how much money he had in his bank. When I told him he had two dollars and fifty cents his face fell, and he said, “It’s not enough.” I asked what I wasn’t enough for, and he replied, “I want to take what I have to the poor people and help them.”
