Ability Tree provides needed REST for individuals and families impacted by disability and provides organizations with tools, resources, and opportunities to readily engage the special needs community. Our REST Center in Northwest Arkansas serves families affected by disability in Northwest Arkansas, Northeast Oklahoma, and beyond. We also host groups and mission teams from around the country who want to learn how to build relationships and provide rest for individuals and families living with disability in their community.
Over the past 10 years, we have grown from one family with a vision, to a financially sustainable organization. Each week, we provide daily after-school programs, weekend Parents Night Out events for children that give parents/caregivers temporary rest, inclusive sports leagues, art programs, an overnight summer camp, and a variety of community events for families of children with special needs. These programs are dramatically improving the quality of life of children and families impacted by disabilities.
In 2020, we launched ConnectionsU, a four-year program for high school graduates with intellectual disabilities that focuses on social skills, life skills, and independence. Just this year we launched Stay and Play to connect with new families in the NWA area with children of all abilities, school-aged and younger. During Stay and Play, families explore and have fun together, strengthening relationships with one another. Family memberships start at just $35 a month and ConnectionsU is $1,200 per semester. Our policy is to never turn away a family due to finances, so we do everything possible to find a financial partner to meet the need.
