MICAH Fund

Minneapolis, MN, US

The Minority Infant and Children Adoption Help (MICAH) Fund, established in 1990, was born out of a need to facilitate the adoption of minority children whose birthparents desired to voluntarily release them in adoption. The Fund continues to provide matching grants for qualified adoptive parents seeking to adopt African American and biracial infants and children. Originally only serving families in the Midwest, beginning August 1, 2014, the MICAH Fund will begin awarding matching grants to families across the U.S.

About This Field Partner

Pre-Adoption Program

Matching Grants

The MICAH Fund’s core goal is to provide financial assistance to prospective Christian adoptive parents who are seeking to adopt African American or bi-racial children.  This is done in the form of dollar-for-dollar matching grants up to $2,000.  To receive a grant the prospective adoptive parents must apply to the MICAH Fund, be approved, and then raise funds to be matched.  A matching grant may be given once for each adopted child.  Funds raised in excess of $2,000 may also be directed toward the adoption, in accordance with tax law and need.

Grant payments are made directly to agencies, on behalf of adoptive families, that are committed to providing quality services to birthparents, their children, and prospective Christian parents. The Fund is managed by the MICAH Fund Committee, a group of committed volunteers.

If you are interested in applying for a matching grant you may start the process by contacting the MICAH Fund by email at:  micahfund@gmail.com.
