About this trip

Advancing Community Health, Education, and Wholeness

ADRA Peru has invited Loma Linda University Students for International Mission Service (LLU SIMS) to bring an interdisciplinary team of students and faculty to the Chuquicahuana Training Center & Camp in the Cuzco region of Peru. This facility serves as a home base for ADRA’s community outreach initiatives, supporting programs that promote health, wellness, education, and personal development throughout the surrounding communities.

Through this international mission service experience, LLU students and faculty will collaborate with ADRA Peru, local community partners, and the Seventh-day Adventist Church to support health education initiatives and community-based outreach. Participants will have opportunities to share their knowledge, learn from local partners, and contribute to programs that encourage healthier lifestyles and promote whole-person care.

A central component of ADRA’s work is its weeklong health-focused camps for children, adolescents, and adults. These camps provide opportunities for community members, particularly children and young people, to explore new perspectives on physical and mental health, develop positive wellness practices, and build skills that support lifelong well-being.

Mission service activities may include:

  • Health-Focused Camps: Assist with educational and wellness activities for children, adolescents, and adults, encouraging healthy habits and a greater understanding of physical and mental well-being.

  • Community Health Education Workshops: Collaborate with the local Seventh-day Adventist Church to provide educational sessions addressing preventive healthcare, healthy lifestyles, and community health priorities.

  • Community Health Fairs: Partner with local church members, healthcare professionals, and community organizations to promote health awareness and share practical wellness information.

  • Community Outreach: Participate in ADRA Peru’s ongoing outreach initiatives, engaging with individuals and families in surrounding communities.

  • Interdisciplinary Collaboration: Work alongside fellow students, faculty, ADRA personnel, and local partners to share knowledge, strengthen relationships, and support community-centered health initiatives.

Through this experience, LLU students and faculty will gain valuable cross-cultural learning opportunities while contributing to meaningful community health programs. Participants will develop a deeper understanding of global health, community engagement, and the importance of culturally responsive approaches to wellness.

Guided by Loma Linda University’s commitment to service and whole-person care, this mission service trip emphasizes collaboration, compassion, and the promotion of physical, mental, social, and spiritual well-being. Together with ADRA Peru and local partners, the team will seek to strengthen community relationships and support lasting improvements in health awareness and wellness throughout the Cuzco region.

  • Please note that all trip dates are tentative and subject to change until airfare has been secured and confirmed. Participants should make personal travel arrangements only after receiving official confirmation of the trip dates from LLU SIMS.
