About this trip

Mombasa, Kenya

May 17-30, 2017

On this medical missions trip we will be working with Real 4 Christ Ministries in two medical clinics associated with the schools MBEWAU and Maasai Corner, performing physicals on all of the students at each school, backpacking into the surrounding villages with medicine to help those in need and much more.  We will organize a community health screening where we can assess the community for hypertension, diabetes and hearing problems and from there we can organize further teaching with those in need. We have also the option of teaching first aid and CPR to the teachers and older children at the schools. There is a possibility that we will traveling to very rural communities where Real 4 Christ has started new church plants to treat people who are very far away from medical care. A visit to a local government hospital will be arranged and we will also be going on a Safari in between working with the two schools!

Q: What airport do we travel into?

A: We will be traveling from DFW to Mombasa, Kenya.

Q: What is the weather like?

A: The weather in Mombasa in May is generally between 75-85 degrees and humid. We will be arriving at the end of their rainy season, so expect a few showers.

Q: Do I need to bring cash?

A: It is your choice on whether or not you bring cash. We recommend that you don’t bring more than $250 in cash for travel day meals, snacks and personal souvenirs. We will have access to an ATM if needed. The Kenyan currency is the Kenyan Shilling if you choose to exchange money prior to leaving the US. This can be requested through your personal bank.

Q: What should I bring?

A: Please see the packing list in the Real 4 Christ training manual for a full list of what to bring.

Q: Will we be in a safe area of Kenya?

A: Yes. We stay in beachside resorts on the coast and drive into the villages every day with Kenyan staff members who know the area. The resorts are gated with security provided.

Q: Will ground transportation be provided?

A: Yes, we will have a team bus to transport us to and from the hotels to our ministry locations. Real 4 Christ has used the same transportation company for the last 7 years with well known drivers. The same drivers will be with us throughout the entire trip.

Q: Will all food and drinks be provided?

A: Breakfast and dinner with water, tea and coffee will be provided at the resorts. We will have lunch either in the village, schools or in town.

Q: Is there a hospital close by?

A:Yes, there is a hospital about 20 minutes from the hotel, we might even be visiting it!
