Butler Modaff Family Adoption

When we traveled to China to adopt two years ago, it was with the understanding this was going to be our one and only adoption trip. However there...
It is so hard to believe that we just started this journey to "Cora" a little over a month ago. We have anxiously been watching the weather reports and tracking the Typhoon that is expected to hit the China coastline. While it doesn’t look like Cora’s orphanage will be impacted, we are continuing to keep the other orphanages in the area in our thoughts.
In addition to working on the stacks of papers, completing our training classes, and meeting with our social worker, we have been working hard on raising funds. We sold Super Hero capes and just held a 2 day yard sale. The sale was a lot of work but an amazing experience. We had multiple families generously donate all sorts of items to appeal to a variety of tastes and the weather was beautiful both days. We were overwhelmed by the generosity people showed us with their donations; that generosity continued throughout the sale. We were able to speak to so many people in our community and hear their own adoption stories from Vietnam, Korea, Ethiopia, China, and the United States. We are also thrilled that we can share some this beautiful generosity with others by donating several bags of winter clothing to children and teens on the Rosebud Reservation in South Dakota.
We just can’t begin to express how thankful we are to everyone who has helped us thus far in our process! We can feel all the positive thoughts serving to reinforce our blind faith that this journey is indeed the one we are meant to be on.
