IT'S HAPPENING!!! God has opened the door wide for a chance to do an opportunity He has been beautifully preparing for me! On October 21st, I will be going with Go Near Ministry to serve in Nairobi, Kenya for a few weeks. This nonprofit organization was started by the Taylor family while living in Kenya with a mission to mobilize people to empower the poor. 

Go Near Ministry partners with nationals in Nairobi to carry out the mandate “to care for widows and orphans in distress” and provide for the “least of these” who live in extreme poverty. My role will be to explore ways to help Go Near Ministry develop effective communication and fundraising strategies for their projects. This includes a school for disabled children in the slums, school construction and a feeding program, widows sewing program, orphan care and leading teams of volunteers for service. I will also work alongside Anna Taylor to help develop strategy to launch her nonprofit, James 127 Foundation, focused on vocational training and production of clothing for Judith & James clothing line in the same community.

What exactly is James 127 Foundation & how will I be involved?

James 127 Foundation is a nonprofit organization being launched out of Go Near Ministry Sewing Training Empowerment Program, which brings God's hope to widows and orphans by providing sewing training  & pastoral care to vulnerable women in Kenya. Widows in Gituamba slums receive sewing training for 2 years, participate in monthly feeding assistance and graduate with National Kenya Tailoring certification.

My specific role to help launch James 1:27 Foundation includes:

• Meet with the first group of widows who have graduated from the sewing training & gain an understanding of every detail included in the sewing training program.

• Assess progress of the training program and make improvements for sustainability.

• Develop communication tools and fundraising strategies for expansion of the sewing training program to other locations.

• Work with launching of Judith & James clothing line. Judith & James employs many of the widows & gives a percentage of profit back to James 127 Foundation. This is a successful model of caring for widows through vocational training and employment.

So this is my wild adventure God is leading me on and I would thrilled for you to be a part of it with me! I am raising the funds that I will need to travel and live on while I am in Kenya.
