ADOPTION UPDATE: (Dec. 2019)

Sorry it has been a while since I last updated on here:

But for all who are still following along - here is a recent update as to where Heidi & I are in the adoption processes and with life in general.

Last April (2019) I was contacted by a college friend who knew someone who was pregnant and considering adoption. Heidi & I met with that birth mother and it appeared things were going to move forward and while there were some bumps in the road all was looking positive. The baby was born at the beginning of October, a little boy. However, following the birth of the little boy, the father in question of the boy decided he wanted to parent, so things changed quickly. We went from having great hopes of welcoming a child into our home - to broken hearts and dashed dreams within a matter of a week.

So as of the mid-October, Heidi & I went back on the waiting list to be matched with a another potential birth mother and child.

This is twice where we have been so close and things have fallen through. We continue to pray and trust in the Lord that He will answer our prayers according to His will.

In the midst of all of this, we sold our previous house in Illinois, unfortunately, we lost money on that home and had to dip into our savings to help unload that burden.

We are great full to be able to unload that burden and move forward.

We continue to move forward in prayer with adoption - as we know there are many children in need of a loving home. And we have plenty of love to share.

If you would like to share in that love and support - we would be more than happy to have your prayers and support.

Whenever a child is placed with us, there will be one final fee left for us to pay of about $10K. To date, we have already paid over $15K through personal loans and savings, as well as some assistance from family and friends. We are truly appreciative of all that support we have received.

If you would like to help us in our continual journey toward adoption and make a donation - would we be more than thankful.

But more than anything, we ask for your prayers, as we continue in this journey.

Blessings,
Larry & Heidi

ADOPTION UPDATE: (Oct. 2017)

“So, do not fear, for I am with you; do not be dismayed, for I am your God. I will strengthen you and help you; I will uphold you with my righteous right hand.” Isaiah 41:10

It’s with a sad and heavy heart that I write this update. As I stated in my previous update, nothing was set in stone for our adoption of this baby boy that is due later this month (Oct. 20).

Unfortunately, through matters that are outside of our control, thing have changed in regard to our pending adoption and the child we were matched with will no longer be moving forward. This is a hard time for Heidi and I, and we ask for your prayers. We were excited to add to our family. And like any child a couple is expecting, we started to have hopes and dreams for this child, even though we knew anything could happen.

With this adoption now not going through, it is like we lost a child. There is grief, anger, and frustration over the way things have transpired. But at the center of all of this is still a child. Please pray not only for Heidi and I, but also this child. Please pray that he is given a loving home and the care and nurture he needs and deserves. And please keep Heidi & me in your prayers, as we continue in our adoption journey and long to be matched with another child.

As the psalmist reminds us, “God is our refuge and strength, an ever-present help in trouble.” (Psalm 46:1). Amid all of this we turn to our Lord Jesus, trusting in Him and His timing. If you know of any who is considering adoption for their child, please share our name with them or have them contact Bethany Christian Services.

Ever since Heidi & I married we always knew we wanted a big family. We were blessed with the first birth of our son, Noah on December 29, 2005 earlier than expected. Noah lived a short 2 weeks before being called into Jesus arms on January 11, 2006. Less than a year later we were blessed with our second son, Peyton (another early addition) and then 3 years later in 2009 we added a little girl, Lorelei. We have been blessed beyond belief with our children. Those who know Peyton and Lorelei know what a delight they truly are not only to our family but to others as well. However, we feel our family is not quite complete, there is still plenty of love to share and there are many who need to experience the love that we enjoy as a family. So after a lot of prayer, a lot of talking, and some more prayer we feel the call to add to our family through the process of adoption.

God has put adoption on our hearts and that calling has continued to grow stronger. It is something Heidi and I have considered even before we had children of our own. For those who aren’t aware, I was adopted by the man I call my father, John Yaw. To have experienced the love of someone who wanted me as his son is indescribable and unbelievable; and I wasn’t always an easy son to love. But I know and want to share that same love with not only my current children, but with whoever else the Lord desires to bring into our family. God has opened many doors and answered prayers, and we are confident that The Lord has a plan for us as an adoptive family.

We believe that just as God has adopted us through His Son, Jesus Christ (Ephesians 1:5) loving us unconditionally, we have a calling in our lives to extend that same unconditional love. God’s Word also calls us to care for widows and orphans. God has been working in our hearts through this process, and we are trusting in His will in our family planning.

We are currently working with Bethany Christian Services and have just submitted our formal application and first payment. Up next for the Yaw Family is a home study where we work with a social worker that will evaluate, educate, and prepare us for adoption.

Sadly, one of the areas we’ve wrestled with, and almost every adoptive family struggles with, is the finances. As a matter of fact, while 38% of practicing Christians have seriously considered adoption, only 5% actually adopt, primarily because of the financial component. The majority of those 5% who do adopt need some form of financial assistance to do so.

There is an old proverb, “It takes a village to raise a child.” This is especially true when it comes to adoption. As we begin this journey we do so with much joy and with eager hearts and ask for your support along the way – be our village.

While we will be pursuing grants and looking into loans we can’t apply for some of these financial helps until our home study is complete and there are costs that come before then. If you are so willing please consider helping us out one of the following ways:

Prayer

- Please keep the Yaw family in prayer as we prepare our home to welcome another child into it.

- Pray for the birth mother who chose life for her child and the desire to give her child to a forever home.

- Pray for our journey in securing funds.

Financial Support

- If you feel it in your heart, please consider giving a donation to help us out.
All donations through this page are Tax Deductible.

Share Our Story with Family & Friends

- Do you know a birthmother looking for a family for her child?
Please share our name and information as a prospective family.

- Please share with everyone you know so that they too can support us through prayers and any other possible means.

Every prayer and donation is important and will help make this adoption a success. Would you kindly consider making a donation and keeping our family in your prayers? Also, we would appreciate your willingness to share this with others who may want to participate.

Thank you so much for being a part of our lives and helping accomplish something that's important to all of us! May God bless us all throughout this journey.
