Veteran's Advocacy Collective
“Bridging the Gap”
Mission
To better the life and well-being of Veterans by providing support, referrals, and general assistance to Disabled Veterans and their families in their time of need.
Purpose
To be an advocate and provide assistance, grants, and partnership to veterans on the verge of giving up, Bridging the Gap between where they are and where they hope to be. Just for Vets will focus on addressing immediate issues related to mental health care, substance abuse, Job training, and financial assistance until they can get the help the VA provides.
About Veteran's Advocacy Collective
Transitioning from war back to civilian life can be a challenge. Simply put, many lack the support and resources to get the help they need. According to a recent study, even beyond the known 2.9 million disabled veterans, 50% of veterans with PTSD do not seek treatment, nearly 40% of Iraq and Afghanistan veterans suffer with alcohol abuse, and 22 veterans commit suicide per day. There is an alarmingly high rate of veteran suicide, depression, divorce, homelessness, and substance abuse.
For many, the most critical time is between when a veteran realize they need help and when they can actually get it. The paperwork and process can be daunting. The necessary insight overwhelming. That’s where we come in. Just for Vets exists to help Bridge the Gap between where a veteran is and where they hope to be.
