We are adopting a child!

Our Story!

Since we've been married, we often get asked, "when are you having babies?" "Babies coming soon?" "What's taking y'all so long?!" My response was either, "We are working on it", or "In God's timing, it will happen." Little did they know, we've been struggling with infertility. I don't necessarily tell everyone what's going on because it's not exactly a pleasant topic of discussion. Also, if you know me, you know how much I want to be a mama! So talking about it, just brought negative thoughts and feelings. We have had a lot of moments of sadness, tears, frustrations, anger, and hopelessness. We even went as far as questioning God and asking Him, "WHY US?!?!? WHY ARE WE GOING THROUGH THIS?!? WHAT DID WE DO WRONG?!?! ARE WE NOT DESERVING?!?!" We know that everything happens in God's perfect timing, but we didn't want to hear that at times! On top of that, my heart would break more everytime I was asked about pregnancy or someone announcing a pregnancy. I, of course, was super excited for friends and family members that were expecting, but in all honesty, I was a bit jealous! So...after a lot of prayer, tears, conversations with my husband, I finally felt a sense of peace. God never said Tommie and I wouldn't be parents. He never even said I wouldn't get pregnant, but what we do know is what His Word says, "Delight yourself also in the Lord, and He will give you the desires of your heart." Psalms 37:4. We are standing on that and we BELIEVE IT!!! Having a baby is OUR DESIRE!!! WE TRUST GOD!!! So after more prayer and lots of discussion, God led us down the path of Domestic Infant Adoption!! We are so excited to be on this journey to meet the baby that God has predestined to be in our home and heart forever!! We are currently in the middle of the adoption process! It’s exciting, time consuming, frustrating, and fun all at the same time!! One area that is probably the biggest obstacle we are facing is the financial commitment adoption brings. We need help!! That is not easy for us to say, but now is the time to put pride aside and ask for your help! If God lays it on your heart to assist us on this journey, please do! There are a lot of different fees that need to be covered and we can only do that with your help!! The amount we are asking for is not small. We have to cover adoption agency fees, legal fees, attorney fees, travel fees, and also some of the expectant mother's expenses. So, we ask you to bless the Tucker Family with a financial gift so we can grow our family through adoption!! Thank you all for reading this and even if you are unable to give financially, we still humbly solicit your prayers throughout this journey we are embarking on together!! 

We are beyond excited and are doing everything we can to be prepared to welcome a beautiful new life into our home. As part of our adoption process, we have started a crowdfunding campaign. It may surprise you to hear that adoption related costs can easily total up to $45,000 or more. This is why we have set a goal of $35,000 to help ease the financial burden that often overwhelms adoptive parents.

UPDATE!!!!

On Thursday, 8/13/20, A MONTH AND A HALF AFTER STARTING OUR ADOPTION JOURNEY, we received an email from our adoption consultants about an expectant mother (EM) in Dallas, TX. This EM specifically requested a black family so her child can be raised within his culture and ethnicity. Tommie and I were the ONLY black couple within our agency, so we were the only couple presented to her. She did view about 10 other families from other agencies. On Monday, 8/17/20, we found out that out of all of the others couples, she chose us!!!! Here's the kicker....her due date was Friday, 8/21/20!!!! Tommie and I had to literally rush to get plane tickets to fly from Anchorage, Alaska to Dallas, Texas. We had to book a hotel, get baby stuff, inform our jobs, and of course, get our finances together! We were not even close to our financial goal, but ALL THINGS WORKED OUT!!! Thanks to our family  and friends!!! We still have expenses that need to be covered, but we are happy to say, we are back home in Alaska, after a 2 day ICPC with our 3 week old baby boy named Tommie Jr. aka TJ!!
