Troyer's Adoption
by Megan Troyer 8 Lives Impacted
LIFE IS A BEAUTIFUL JOURNEY It has been our dream for many years to adopt, just as God adopts us to be His children. Our child will know that...
AFFORDING OUR ADOPTION
Even though the price-tag of adoption seems insurmountable, there are tens of thousands of adoptive families, so we know it’s possible! We are expecting to pay around $30,000 when all is said and done. This includes home study fees, interstate costs (the Interstate Compact and our travel to Florida), adoption agency fees, and expenses incurred by the birth mom.
It’s interesting, but we aren’t stressed about the money. We know if God wants it to happen, it will. It’s just like the saying “if you wait to have children until you can afford them, you’ll never have any.” This will lead to more Godincidences, and some have already occurred:
1. We applied for and were accepted to the Deferred Application, so only ¼ of the agency application cost is due up front. This amount plus more was donated by family as a tithe.
2. Good friends have offered to “sponsor” our baby’s formula for as long as they need a bottle. This was a sign from God that we were meant to stay on the adoption path when we desperately needed to hear from Him.
3. Around this same time, another good friend just “happens” to come to town for a visit and is a Tupperware consultant. She explained that Tupperware donates 40% of total sales at any fundraiser event to your specified charity. Well, Megan is now a consultant and this friend gifted her with the start-up sales kit.
4. A friend of a friend sells Jamberry Nails, and despite never having met us, she offered to do a party and donate all her commission to the adoption.
5. A neighbor is also donating her commission from any Younique make-up sales at this same party.
6. A couple of families who have finished having kids have offered to give us almost everything we will need: from a bassinet, to a baby swing, high chair, clothes, stroller, and more.
