We've been watching adoption referrals from Nicaragua slow down tremendously the last year. It has recently become evident that Nicaragua is essentially at a stand still for placing children with international families. While it's tough to know the future for sure, our best resources feel that the situation with Nicaragua won't be improving soon, or perhaps for many years. Clearly this is not what we wanted to hear. Dalia and I have spent the last several months praying and looking for direction as to what to do next. Our adoption agency has partnerships with several other countries throughout the world, but many of those countries are facing their own diplomatic struggles with placing children. So, in the midst of what felt like a low point, God, in His wonderful fashion, showed us once again that He is still in control. About a month ago our adoption agency announced they were partnering with another agency, Nighlight Christian Adoptions. This is such exciting news! Nightlight brings great experience and many new countries to the table, several of which are Latin American (that is where our hearts lie). As I write this today, we are in the process of gathering information for a few different countries. Unfortunately the road ahead is once again long, as we will essentially have to start at ground zero in the process, but Dalia and I remain very encouraged and as strong as ever that we are obediently working to fulfill God's will for our lives.
