About this Fundraiser

The news changes every day, its highlights, focuses and calls to actions often confusing, overwhelming or contradictories. I can't claim to have a handle on understanding even a fraction of the needs in the world today, only what has resonated more deeply with my own heart and what I believe my response needs to be.  The situation of religious minorities in Iraq, which has quickly become an issue fraught with buzzwords and assumption, and has left over 200,000 individuals without homes and resources as they flee persecution.  These people include Christians, Yezidis and many other minority groups.

That's why I started this fundraiser to support the Preemptive Love Coalition on Pure Charity. I agree whole heartedly with their view that "As a Christian, I want to see Christians up in arms about all the suffering peoples of Iraq".  Every penny of this goes to fund projects that provide clothing, housing, education, and legal help for families suffering from persecution and displacement.  It is anticipated that every $250 will fund a family for an ENTIRE YEAR, leading to the sponsoring of 120 families if our $30,000 goal is reached.

Preemptive Love Coalition is an organization that has been working in Iraq for the past seven years, helping to provide surgeries for children with heart defects caused by the chemical warfare that has been so prevalent in the country. I have considered it an honor to support them in the past few years and I am thankful for organizations like these that work to relive the sufferings of all who are around them without concern for personal safety, regardless of religious views or background.

If you would like more information please, please, please feel free to contact me or look through Preemptive Love's website, found here

Although this is a serious issue I would love to infuse some fun and adventure into our fundraising efforts. Want to make me work for a donation?  Send a challenge that I must complete before you send the money!  And yes, if we reach $30,000 before my 31st birthday, I might even shave my head.

“I do not believe one can settle how much we ought to give. I am afraid the only safe rule is to give more than we can spare." -C.S.Lewis

* If funds exceed what is needed to assist displaced families at the close of this fundraiser, all monies will go towards life saving heart surgeries.
